Grace VanGessel MA CCC-SLP

I started Grow Together Speech Therapy LLC in 2022 from the foundational belief that children thrive with their caregivers involved in therapy. While growth can be a solo adventure, it is most successful and sustainable when we have others in our corner cheering us on and working together to help us achieve our goals. Providing therapy in the home is the perfect way to get around any barriers that can often prevent caregivers from knowing what is happening in therapy. Even if you are not physically with your child and I during a session, you know that the therapy is happening in the comfort of your home and I will always make sure to communicate with you about our sessions.

I also believe that children learn best when they are immersed in activities that they enjoy and love. My approach to therapy is "child-led" which means that I adapt activities and experiences to those which the child prefers. It is amazing to see how much more successful children can be when we take this flexible and playful approach! This approach doesn’t just work for speech therapy for toddlers, but also speech therapy for older children too!

So far in my career, I have worked in the public schools and outpatient centers. Both of these settings provided me with completely invaluable experience that gave me the confidence to start my own business. I have a wide range of experience providing speech therapy for toddlers and older children as well as speech therapy for children with Autism, Down Syndrome, Developmental Delay, Cerebral Palsy, and more. I specifically have a large amount of experience and success working with young children with language delay to boost those early skills and children with articulation disorders, phonological disorders, and Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS). I also have expertise working with children who are non-speaking and require the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). I have worked with families, insurance, physicians, and AAC device companies to acquire AAC devices for eight different individuals!
